Summary

The Boxer descends from the Brabant Bullenbeisser, a German hunting dog used to hold game until the huntsman arrived. Selective breeding retained strength and a broad muzzle while shaping a more agile companion, guard, and working dog. Boxers are typically bright, affectionate, energetic, and courageous. Today they are active family companions and take part in many dog sports and service roles.
